Stages Memoir in Stories

In Stages: My Life in Stories, spoken-word storyteller Jessica Robinson has collected twenty-five stories that span from her childhood in the eighties to the creation of her own children through IVF. The collection is meant to be read as a memoir in stories. Each story is complete in and of itself, but represents a different pivotal moment, a different stage in the life of the storyteller.

I have been excitedly reading the reviews that have already come in and here are a few choice words from readers.

A thread of stories that creates a wonderful piece of fabric

This is a book of joy, heartache, anger, humor, and just about everything in between. Each chapter can stand on its own as a small vignette, but they come together beautifully as a whole. They are personal to her but also relatable to me–and even though you are totally different than her and than me, probably to you, too.

A Master Storyteller’s beautiful, poignant, humorous journey through life’s trials and tribulations

While this book is about the author’s journey, it is also about the human condition. You’d be hard-pressed not to find this book relatable, as we have all been through life at its worst and best. I love that each story is a stand-alone piece, yet they all weave together to tell a compelling narrative.

I keep getting asked – HOW WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO PURCHASE STAGES? I love that people are trying to be conscientious consumers! I will say first, I would be thrilled if you buy my book in any format from wherever is most convenient. THE AUDIOBOOK WILL BE OUT IN JANUARY! But if you have the means to choose the method, than here are my suggestions.

Suggested Ways to Purchase Stages: My Life in Stories

1

Get your copy at your local bookstore. If they do not have it in stock, ask them to order it. They can!

2

Order from Bookshop.org
When you check out, they will ask you what bookstore you’d like to support. Put in your local bookstore. OR, if you don’t have a favorite bookstore, enter The Winchester Book Gallery.

3

Buy a book from me at one of my upcoming events. Check out my events calendar here. If I am there and it’s open to the public, there will be books.

4

And of course, the kindle and paperback version are both available on my publisher’s website TuckerDSPress and Amazon. The audiobook will be there, and on Audible, soon.

Fun Fact: Stages is already available through the Fairfax County Public Library system. You can also request the book at your local library. It may take them longer to acquire it, but libraries do take requests.
